Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2025 · Effective immediately
1. Who We Are
AcademAI ("we", "our", "us") is an AI-powered academic tools platform designed for Nigerian university and polytechnic students. Our platform is accessible at www.peaciva.com. For questions about this policy, contact us at support@peaciva.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information when you use AcademAI:
- Account information: Your name and email address, provided when you register or sign in with Google.
- Project content: Project titles, department, institution, and any text you enter to generate documents.
- Payment information: We use Paystack to process payments. We do not store your card details. Paystack's privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and time spent on the platform — collected via server logs and cookies.
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and analytics purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Generate documents and academic content on your behalf using AI.
- Process payments and issue credits.
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, payment receipts).
- Improve our AI models and platform performance using anonymised, aggregated data.
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse of the platform.
- Respond to your support requests and enquiries.
4. AI-Generated Content
Documents generated on AcademAI are produced using large language model (LLM) technology. The content you provide as input (project title, department, activities, etc.) is sent to our AI provider's API to generate your document. We do not use your personal project content to train third-party AI models beyond the scope of generating your document.
All generated content is stored on our servers to enable you to access, edit, and re-download your documents. You retain ownership of the content you generate using our platform.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Paystack (payments), Google (authentication), and AI API providers — strictly for the purpose of providing the service.
- Legal requirements: If required by Nigerian law, court order, or a governmental authority.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of AcademAI, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, with advance notice to you.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may prevent certain features from working correctly.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, and restricted database access. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. You use the platform at your own risk and should keep your login credentials confidential.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data and generated documents for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting support@peaciva.com. Deletion requests are processed within 14 business days. Payment records may be retained for legal and tax compliance purposes.
9. Children's Privacy
AcademAI is intended for university and polytechnic students who are typically 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time.

Our platform may contain links to external academic databases and resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party websites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Your continued use of AcademAI after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
